Beni Komaki - Sweet Potato Shochu (720ml, 30%)

£70.00

Established in 1909, Komaki, situated in the northwestern part of Satsuma city, boasts a picturesque setting surrounded by nature, including the scenic Mount Shibi and the meandering Sendai River. Despite enduring water damage from flooding on three separate occasions, Komaki has demonstrated resilience, bouncing back each time with the unwavering support of the community.

Presently overseen by Kazunori, the older brother and president, along with his sibling Isekichi, who serves as the head distiller, the distillery is renowned for its signature labels. "Issho," created in honour of the centennial celebration in 2009, embodies the everlasting relationships between the brothers, taking letters from their names. "Isekichi Don," named after the founder and second-generation chairman, and "Komaki," brewed using traditional methods in urns, further showcase their dedication to craftsmanship.

The pinnacle of the distillery's shochu offerings is the "Issho" label, characterised by an exceptionally soft taste that defies its 30% alcohol by volume. Komaki's distinctive manufacturing process contributes to this unique quality. A delightful floral scent greets the nose, leading to a palate rich in strong jasmine flavours. The elegant sweetness of red satsuma potato lingers in the aftertaste, making it a truly exceptional experience.

ABV: 30%
Base Ingredient: Sweet Potato
Sweet Potato Variety: Red Satsuma (83%)
Koji: Hi-no-hikari rice (17%)
